The Brief

Nextbase, the UK’s leading dash cam brand, partnered with UpShift to replicate their domestic success in the U.S. market. Their primary goal was to boost visibility and position themselves as a leader in the less mature U.S. dash cam sector while increasing organic traffic and revenue.

Recognising the challenges of a competitive landscape, UpShift developed a multi-faceted strategy involving technical SEO, content optimisation, and digital PR. This approach focused on improving keyword rankings, securing high-authority backlinks, and building brand awareness through targeted outreach and creative campaigns like “The Crash Map,” tailored to the U.S. audience.

Our Approach

Our strategy focused on understanding Nextbase’s customers to close competitive gaps and expand audience reach.

The main objectives were to build brand awareness in the U.S. through digital PR, enhance keyword rankings, leverage SEO, and boost product visibility.

Content & Digital PR

To close competitor gaps and position Nextbase as a leading U.S. dash cam provider, we implemented a multi-faceted digital PR strategy. This included targeted outreach, industry responses, and media campaigns designed to boost visibility and brand authority. One standout initiative was the temporary creative campaign, “The Crash Map,” which visualised crash data across all U.S. states, effectively raising brand awareness and engagement. Its strong automotive and regional focus attracted high-quality links and emphasised the importance of dash cams for vehicle safety. We also tailored our PR and content efforts to the U.S. market by adapting messaging to align with local cultural and consumer preferences, ensuring maximum impact.

Tech

We addressed hreflang issues that were affecting U.S. users by displaying incorrect sites or languages, improving both user experience and search rankings. By implementing tailored geotagging and hreflang solutions, we ensured users were directed to the right content, leading to a more seamless experience. This strategic approach not only optimised site visibility but also laid a solid foundation for future SEO enhancements, ensuring our efforts delivered maximum benefit.

The Results

UpShift surpassed all KPIs, successfully positioning Nextbase as a leading dash cam provider in both Europe and the U.S. Our strategy generated nationwide interest in the U.S., leveraging a targeted Digital PR campaign that focused on both product benefits and customer needs, despite market challenges.

Within two weeks of securing hundreds of high-authority backlinks from the “Crash Map” campaign and resolving hreflang issues, Nextbase’s keyword rankings saw significant improvement, validating the effectiveness of our approach. The innovative “Crash Map” campaign tapped into U.S. trends, boosting engagement and driving organic backlinks without relying on spammy tactics.

We’ve been working with Evolved Search for over three years now, and they’ve been instrumental in helping us to improve our organic and paid marketing performance.

We’re particularly impressed with their in-depth knowledge of the automotive industry, and their ability to quickly understand our business goals and objectives. They’re also very responsive to our needs, and their teams are always willing to go the extra mile to help us achieve results. We’ve been delighted with the approach to content marketing from Evolved Search and found that the team have grasped our brand, the complexities of the industry and the ways in which we could engage with our target audience well. Throughout our work together they’ve achieved some fantastic results in terms of news coverage and links to support our overall organic performance, which has played a key role in building awareness of the Money Guru brand.

Prior to working with Evolved we had struggled with different iterations of our contact form without much success. Evolved helped us not only design a better solution, but implement it, track its success and offer further refinements to be able to continue to optimise this key conversion page going forward. Since its gone live conversions have gone up, but more importantly as has the quality and detail of these leads. We’re extremely happy with our progress so far and look forward to further optimising our contact form and other key data capture forms going forward.

Evolved were able to support us with a migration that ensured quality content was carried over and continued to perform. In addition to this, they provided an impactful content strategy which grew visibility of and engagement with our electric vehicles in line with our electric-focused rebrand.
